Hystrion Nano Indentor
IThe Hysitron nanoindenter is a low
load nano-mechanical test system.
It is ideal for measuring the hardness
and elastic modules of thin films and
coatings. The Hysitron
TriboIndenter provides quantitative nano-mechanical
testing capabilities with the
convenience of modern automation at the
micro and nano size scales. With
both normal and lateral force loading
configurations, the TriboIndenter has
revolutionalized the field of sub-micron
scale experimental mechanics and
real-time data collection and nanometer
resolution using the optical viewer.
TriboIndenter provides testing based on
quantitative, controlled nanoindentation
surfaces. Automated precision
testing, staging and sample positioning
allows maximum throughput of samples.

Imaging Systems/font>
Due to the wide range of projects at
different size scales, the imaging
requirements can be very demanding.
We currently have access to four
different imaging systems:
- Hitachi M 22
Resolution: 640 x 480 x 8 bit
It interfaces with a computer using
the DT 3120 analog frame grabber
card. The camera can be fitted
onto the microscope or to a
macroscopic imaging lens.
*note on the frames per sec
achievable and other technical
details
- Pulenix 710
Progressive Scan (30Hz)
Resolution: 640 x 480 x 8 bit
- Spot Insight
Resolution: 2048 x 2048 x 14 bit
This is the latest addition to our
inventory. It's a very
versatile camera with a very easy to
use software interface that provides
many customizable options and remote
operation. This camera has
been used for very high resolution,
high speed imaging e.g. capturing
localized plastic formation in bulk
metallic glasses.
- Kodak 6.1 Mega Pixel digital
camera
A small, easy to use and a light
camera with good resolution
Polishing and specimen cutting
Sample preparation is done using the
Buehler polishing system. A
variety of grades of polishing surfaces
and slurry are available depending on
the finish desired.
