• The History Channel visited the WiST lab on March 22, 2006 to shoot parts of a documentary about the possibility of a large tornado hitting the city of Chicago.

• National Geographic visited the WiST lab on October 13, 2005 to shoot a documentary about a specific tornado event.

• Partha Sarkar and Fred Haan were part of a multi-departmental group (led by Michael Olsen and including Rodney Fox, James Hill and R. Dennis Vigil) that was recently awarded $325,350 from NSF for Acquisition of a High-Speed Particle Image Velocimetry System for Single and Multi-Phase Fluid Dynamics Research (Sept 2005)

• The Iowa State WiST lab was featured in Secrets of the Tornado which premiered on Sunday, Sept. 18, on the National Geographic Channel's Explorer show.

• Researchers from Arizona State University's Planetary Geology Group use the WiST lab's Tornado/Microburst Simulator to conduct tests related to dust devils on Mars (06/2005).

• Partha Sarkar addresses Congress members and staffers about wind hazards (06/2005). This address was sponsored by the Science Coalition. More information on the coalition and Dr. Sarkar's talk can be found on their web site.

• National Geographic Explorer documentary TV series featuring ISU's Wind Simulator (3/05)

• Tornado simulator featured in ASCE's Civil Engineering Magazine (12/04)
